The 4th Annual HarrisX/Ragan CEO-Communicators Perceptions Survey

Findings reveal CEO perceptions of the communications function—and how they value comms around current events and pressing risks.

  • What do CEOs believe are the most valuable attributes and competencies of chief communications officers (CCOs), and how do they align with comms priorities?
  • Where do CEOs and other communications leaders see AI intersecting with comms?
  • How do CEOs and other comms leaders prioritize Brand Safety amid current events like the election and the Israel-Hamas war—and what do they wish they’d spoken up about more?

About the Survey

Ragan Communications partnered with research consultancy HarrisX in the summer of 2024 to understand how CEOs and communications leaders view each other’s roles and responsibilities, what they value most, and their views on pressing risks to the industry, like artificial intelligence, corporate activism, and brand safety.

The survey was conducted by HarrisX from June 20th-August 20th within the U.S. among 437 CEOs and other high-ranking senior communications professionals.
