Tech Turmoil: A report suggests leaders aren’t preparing employees well for new systems rollouts

The COVID-19 pandemic and WFH have pushed many organizations to adopt new tech and workflows—but employees are much less likely to feel confident about the changes than their top execs.

In a time of massive business upheaval, organizations everywhere publicly emphasize their commitment to their workforce as a top priority. But a new IBM survey suggests that’s not the full picture.

Instead, the report suggests, the traumatic stress of 2020 has hijacked corporate strategy and that companies are focused inward, protecting cash, managing costs, and seeking increased agility.

They’re also obsessed with technology transformation. The report, “COVID-19 and the Future of Business,” reveals a dramatic pace of change, especially in tech. Fifty-nine percent of the companies surveyed indicated that the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated digital transformation. Sixty-six percent say they have been able to complete initiatives that previously encountered resistance.
