The employee survey questions that shape engagement strategy
Asking the right questions uncovers the state of engagement and enhances culture.
At Ragan’s Employee Experience and Culture Conference in April 2024, Jayli Barkley, a district attorney information specialist in the Communications division at California’s Riverside County District Attorney’s Office, shared how she deploys employee engagement questions that inform her strategy for identifying employee ambassadors and turning them into advocates.
“One of the most useful ways to discover how people feel about their organization is to ask them,” said Barkley, explaining that polling the DA’s law enforcement arm is doubly important in an age when social factors like public perception and mental health affect how others perceive the office’s work.
“As a part of the Bureau of Investigation’s work to establish strategies, goals and objectives in the coming year, this survey will ensure that every voice is heard,” Barkley said. “This includes sworn investigative staff, non-sworn investigative staff and the variety of support personnel.”
