Top Places to Work in Communications Awards

Ragan is pleased to announce the 2025 Top Places to Work in Communications. This year’s honorees prioritize their employees by fostering engagement, encouraging innovation, sharing compelling stories, and cultivating a supportive and dynamic workplace.

Here’s a brief look at what some in this year’s group has done to rise to the top:

  • To foster a strong sense of camaraderie and team spirit, the Max Borges Agency hosts an annual week-long trip to Miami for its entire team. This immersive experience provides a unique opportunity for its team to bond in person, work shoulder-to-shoulder and create lasting memories through a variety of activities, including team-building exercises, happy hours and cultural events. To cap off this trip, MBA treats the entire team and a guest to a three-day cruise filled with relaxation, adventure and unforgettable experiences (including a theme night). This all-expenses-paid getaway is a testament to the company’s commitment to rewarding its team and fostering a positive work-life integration.
  • Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory fosters innovation and employee growth, with its Communications Department playing a key role in amplifying APL’s impact. COMM is driven by a collaborative culture, professional development programs and cutting-edge facilities. A standout achievement was leading the global awareness campaign for NASA’s DART mission, producing a livestream that peaked at 1.1 million viewers. The department’s emphasis on professional growth and wellbeing — offering leadership programs, hybrid work flexibility and extensive mental health resources — demonstrates APL’s dedication to creating an environment where communicators can thrive.
  • Qlik has built an environment where employees have autonomy, cross-functional collaboration and opportunities for career growth. Unlike many organizations with service-oriented communications teams, Qlik’s department operates as an independent function, respected for its strategic value. What sets Qlik apart is its commitment to internal recognition and engagement, exemplified by its quarterly Core Values Award program, where employees highlight peers who embody Qlik’s values, earning Inspire Points redeemable for rewards. With strong executive support, an engaged workforce and a dynamic, global reach, Qlik empowers its communications team to thrive.
