
Matt Swenson
Director of Corporate Communications, Global Communications - Cargill
Matt Swenson leads corporate communications for Cargill, including CEO communications, leadership and board communications, global policy communications, and corporate message development. Additionally, he represents Cargill on the steering team of MBOLD, a coalition working to accelerate cross-sector solutions to global challenges in food and agriculture, particularly climate change and food security.
Before joining Cargill, Matt spent 12 years in public service, including as Deputy Chief of Staff and Director of Communications for the Governor of Minnesota, Press Secretary for the United States Trade Representative, Director of Communications for the Minnesota Department of Commerce, and as a communications adviser for the Minnesota House of Representatives.
Matt has volunteered as a reading tutor, mentored high school and college students, served on his local watershed commission, and served on the alumni boards of the University of Minnesota’s Hubert H. Humphrey School of Public Affairs and Gustavus Adolphus College.
Matt earned a B.A. in communication studies and political science from Gustavus Adolphus College and a master’s degree in public policy from the Hubert H. Humphrey School of Public Affairs. He lives in Minneapolis with his wife Sara and their two daughters.
