Karla Chaman

Karla Chaman has over 25 years of experience as an expert in strategic communication and institutional transformation in various fields such as social development, finance, economics, public reforms, infrastructure, civil society relations, as well as organizational culture. Karla has worked at the World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank, European Central Bank, and for the past 14 years at the International Monetary Fund, where she currently holds the position of Deputy Director of the Internal Communications Division. During the pandemic, she has led the internal communication work around the COVID protocols, return to the office policies and now the hybrid work model efforts that have landed in over 90% staff satisfaction rating.
In the earlier stages of her career, Karla worked in both the public and private sectors in her home country, Peru. She holds a master's degree in public policy from Georgetown University and is certified in Change Management from London. Karla is also the Founder of two NGOs in Peru, both focused on gender equality and training programs for professional women and vulnerable populations. A photography enthusiast and a proactive advocator for gender equality, Karla lives in the Washington DC area with her husband and son.
