Professor and Division Director, Public Communication Division - American University, School of Communication
Dina Inverso is a full-time professor and Division Director for the Public Communication division at American University’s School of Communication. She brings over 20 years of experience as a strategic communications professional and educator, blending industry expertise with academic leadership.
In her role as Division Director, Dina oversees faculty development, curriculum innovation, and student engagement, ensuring the program remains at the forefront of the evolving communications landscape. She has played a key role in shaping the graduate and undergraduate curricula, including leading the Professional MA in Strategic Communication program for six years.
Dina teaches a range of courses at both levels, including PR Case Studies, Public Speaking, PR Portfolio, and Strategic Communication Leadership and Management. Prior to transitioning into academia full-time, she spent nearly a decade at Discovery Communications in marketing and communication leadership roles. She also led the account team at a boutique agency and ran her own consultancy, advising corporate and nonprofit clients on integrated marketing strategies.
Throughout her career, Dina has spearheaded multimillion-dollar campaigns and strategic initiatives for top consumer brands, trade associations, and nonprofits. Her past clients include the Airline Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), Denny’s, Discovery Channel, Freddie Mac Foundation, Expo Markers, Papermate, the Hispanic College Fund, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington.
