Alena Olsen
Olympian and Rugby Player - USA Women’s Team
Alena Olsen is an Olympic winner, a Paris 2024 Bronze Medalist in Rugby 7s, winning the first ever medal for rugby 7s in the US. Since starting with the USA Women’s team in 2018, Alena has appeared in 30 World Series tournaments, 2 Pan-American games, and one World Cup holding leadership positions as a captain and players association representative.
As a recipient of the International Olympic Committee's Athletes for Good Award, and Green Sports Alliance Next Generation Leader Award, Alena has also made her mark in environmental sustainability. Working with global non-profit EcoAthletes, she's led what she calls "Going for Green" initiatives that have encouraged climate action among the rugby community. Through "Going for Green,” Alena and the USA 7s team have planted thousands of trees, started an on campus food waste sorting program, and compiled a list of signatures from hundreds of professional rugby players around the world urging World Rugby to create their own sustainability strategy.
