How effective leaders remain calm during times of crisis

Amid a crisis, the best leaders show their mettle and do what it takes to keep their organizations on track, no matter what. But knowing how to react and craft messages in tough times isn’t just something innate. It’s a learned behavior that all communicators can stand to learn from.
During Ragan’s Internal Communications Conference, Assaf Kedem, head of internal communications and content, global banking at BNP Paribas, Elizabeth Clements, vice president of university communications at DePaul University, and Jennifer Hawton, public relations and executive communications manager at PEMCO Insurance discussed how effective leaders navigate through crises and emerge from the other side.
“The organizations that are best equipped to communicate in times of crisis are those that do it well in peacetime,” Kedem said. “Crisis preparation begins now.”
