The Cafe officially opened in New York City on March 21, World Down Syndrome Day.

With 15 thriving locations across France and five cafés in Belgium and Portugal, Café Joyeux has earned global recognition for its innovative approach to inclusivity. “The people in these towers surrounding Café Joyeux in New York City can do more than they think,” according to Yann Bucaille-Lanzerac, co-founder, Café Joyeux.

As co-founders Yann and his wife Lydwine Bucaille express their gratitude to all who have supported Café Joyeux’s journey. They envision a future where inclusion becomes the norm rather than the exception. Their dedication to spreading joy and transforming lives inspires individuals and corporations alike to embrace their mission of inclusivity.

At the core of Café Joyeux’s mission lies a simple yet impactful vision: to offer meaningful employment opportunities to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. According to Sylvie Giret, US CEO, Café Joyeux, “we are on a mission for inclusion.”

Through vocational training and employment in their restaurants, Café Joyeux empowers these individuals to thrive and contribute to society. Furthermore, the café’s profits are reinvested into opening new locations and supporting the ongoing development of its employees, creating a sustainable cycle of empowerment.

A diverse team of 19 individuals, including 14 with mental and cognitive disabilities, enthusiastically welcomed guests on their inaugural day of service. Each team member brings their unique talents and warmth, creating an atmosphere of inclusivity and acceptance.

As patrons enter Café Joyeux, they are greeted by an ambiance of harmony and authenticity. The café’s inviting decor, curated by renowned interior designer Sarah Poniatowski in collaboration with Gensler, sets the stage for unforgettable experiences. Meanwhile, the menu, curated by acclaimed chef Thierry Marx, promises culinary delights prepared with care and quality ingredients.
