CVS Health goes above and beyond to promote mental healthcare, wellbeing with products for employers
Through employee mental wellbeing product Resources for Living, employers were offered an opportunity to access preventive mental health care resources to boost their employees’ minds and bodies as well as their own. The company’s wellbeing priorities and efforts earned them a place on Ragan’s Workplace Wellness Hot List.
It’s no secret that mental health is top concern for employers and employees alike in the wake of an ongoing pandemic and global challenges.
An estimated 57.8 million people in the U.S. live with a mental illness, according to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), and Mental Health America reports that more than half of those with mental health challenges do not get help.
Dealing with battles of the mind can take a toll and can heavily impact employees’ work/life balance, which is why CVS Health is looking to change that statistic with a workplace wellbeing product, Resources for Living.
This is not a status-quo employee assistance program. Resources for Living offers mental wellbeing support to its 30 million members and more than 1,400 affiliated organizations. The product also offers cutting-edge access, services and care to address the growing needs of those with mental health issues.
In the Resources for Living’s Care Partner model, members can seek help during any season of their mental health journey with resources ranging in scale from cognitive behavioral therapy, addressing grief and stress, and more. It also does not matter what health plan an employee is on.
“Typically, people call their healthcare provider, their insurance, and expect to just address medical issues, just address bills, just address claims,” Melinda Montovani, EAP Worklife Consultant, Resources for Living said. “And instead, at Resources for Living, they hear a person. They hear someone listen. And that’s a completely new model.”
Resources for Living puts the power of addressing mental health needs in the employee’s hands. From meeting in-person to virtual resources, it offers a bevy of tailored partnerships with employers homing in on prioritizing everyday health. One way that Resources for Living does that is by featuring a virtual peer support group facilitated by an RFL clinician who highlights the need for mental well-being and promotes preventive care. Groups could also be filtered by certain demographics including young adults, parents and other elements including diversity, equity and inclusion.
The product also prioritizes innovative technology, such as Mind Companion, a digital-first mental health platform that assists members in finding the correct mental health services they need. The interactive platform features an assessment and unique care options based on the individual. Coaching is available to guide members through the process, too.
Great work, CVS Health on meeting the needs of your Resources for Living members!
