A letter from Ragan’s new editor-in-chief

And what it means for you.

Ragan

Dear Ragan readers,

It’s great to meet you. Again. If my name looks familiar, it’s because I’ve been floating around the Ragansphere for nearly three years now. I started out as senior editor here, contributing content to both Ragan.com and sister site PR Daily, but quickly transitioned to take over PR Daily full-time. But my byline has still popped up here periodically, often about writing, editing and AI.

Now, I’m pleased to take on a new, expanded role as editorial director and editor-in-chief of both PR Daily and Ragan.com.

I have a hybrid background, starting my career working in social media and content marketing before transitioning to the Indianapolis Star newspaper, where I served in both digital and editorial roles. My work at Ragan is a perfect melding of the two halves of my career, and I love learning right alongside our audience. I still live and work here in beautiful Indianapolis. When not on the clock, I travel (Ireland’s on the docket this year), walk in the woods and am attempting to learn embroidery.

For those of you who know and love Justin Joffe, who previously steered the Ragan.com ship, don’t worry. He’s still at the company but now bears the title of senior director of learning & development, continuing his passion for education. You’ll still see his byline around too, as well as that of editor Sean Devlin, who I’m excited to work more closely with.

So what do these changes mean for you?

The big things won’t change. Ragan.com will still deliver useful, practical, thoughtful news and information that communicators can implement into their daily practice. We’ll still be here with interviews with industry heavyweights, insights into trends, and refreshers on fundamental skills like writing and leadership.

But some things will change around the edges. We’re working on delivering new content forms that make learning faster and easier for busy pros. We’re amping up to serve communicators who increasingly work in both internal and external communications. And we’re always listening to how to better fit your needs – stay tuned for a reader survey coming in the next few weeks.

In the meantime, what would you like to see from Ragan.com? What should we cover more of – or less? Drop a comment below or email me at AllisonC@Ragan.com.

    Hi, Allison!

I was the editor in chief at Ragan 30 years ago , . . before online communication existed! You are part of a grand tradition dating back to the great Larry Ragan himself!

    Congratulations and enjoy!

    Allison,

Hearty congrats on your promotion to editor! If ever the PRMuseum can be of assistance to you, please let me know. Better yet, if you’re ever downtown NYC, come up for a visit. We are now situated with PRSA!

All the best for a successful 2025!

Congratulations Allison. It’s great to see a fellow Hoosier at the helm! I like to walk in the woods too. I look forward to the value you will provide to Ragan comms. All the best.
