Gov. Christie squashes spider; PETA hits back
The New Jersey governor killed an arachnid while speaking to school children in his office, prompting the animal-rights organization to sound off.
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie was pretty proud of himself Friday afternoon. His tweet about killing a spider that was crawling on his desk while a group of school children visited his office proves it:
Earlier today I saved a few school children from a spider #nobigdeal #toughdayattheoffice youtube.com/watch?v=bwjke6…
— Governor Christie (@GovChristie) May 3, 2013
The 26-second video included with the tweet shows Christie tiptoeing toward his desk and slamming down on it with the palm of his hand. According to the Associated Press, Christie told the visiting fourth-graders that being governor meant you could kill bugs on your desk and get away with it. He may have been wrong about that, though.
