Nearly an hour into author David Weinberger’s talk about his new book Everything is Miscellaneous, the Harvard Fellow cried out, “Where’s the wisdom of the crowd when you need it?”
He was trying to recall who wrote Being There, and he put it to the audience. None of the roughly 40 people watching Weinberger last week in Chicago knew the answer, although many incorrectly shouted out Jerzy Kosinski, who penned a different novel named Being There.
