Ant Cousins
Executive Director of AI Strategy - Cision
Ant Cousins currently serves as the Executive Director of AI Strategy for Cision. His journey began in technology roles for the Ministry of Defence in 2000, but quickly took him into Public Relations where he provided media advice to British Forces in Iraq and Afghanistan and countering Taliban propaganda. This experience led him to roles in Counter-Terrorism, where he focused on combatting Al-Qaeda's Single Narrative as they sought to radicalize young Muslims in the UK, and later to political analysis and strategy in the Middle East during the pivotal Arab Spring or ‘Social Media Revolutions’. Over the past decade, Cousins has managed to combine his technical and communications expertise into AI-tech leadership roles, particularly at Factmata, which was dedicated to combating misinformation, fake news, and other forms of harmful content associated with brand reputational crises and cancel culture. This innovative venture caught the attention of Cision, leading to Factmata's acquisition in late 2022. Since then, Cousins’s focus has been on bringing the latest in AI technology, including generative AI, to the forefront of Cision’s product strategy, as well as pioneering the implementation of ethical and responsible AI development practices.
Cousins is an accredited PR practitioner, member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), Chair of the Association for the Measurement and Evaluation of Communications (AMEC) ‘Tech Hub’ Special Interest Group, Member of the All Party Parliamentary Group on AI for the British Government and was named in PR Week’s 2023 ‘Dashboard 25’ of PR Tech influencers.
