Steve Drummond

Steve Drummond is a journalist, educator and author. In more than 20 years as a senior editor at NPR in Washington, his work has been recognized with many of journalism’s highest honors. Before coming to NPR, he was a newspaper reporter in Florida and in Michigan, and has written for many publications. He currently leads NPR’s education reporting team. A three-time graduate of the University of Michigan, Drummond lives in Bethesda, Md., and teaches journalism at the University of Maryland. His work has been honored with many of journalism's highest awards, including three Peabody Awards, two Alfred I. DuPont-Columbia University awards, the Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award and the Edward R. Murrow Award. He is the author of The Watchdog: How the Truman Committee Battled Corruption and Helped Win World War Two, published in May 2023.
