
Katherine Cheng
Vice President of People, Culture and DEI - Seattle Mariners
Katherine Cheng is the vice president of People, Culture and DEI at the Seattle Mariners. A seasoned social impact expert and sustainability architect who has worked in diverse industries such as retail (coffee), tech, government and travel, she has proven results working in partnership with non-profits, governments and other corporations to impact issues around the world. Whether it's responding to the natural disasters hitting the Caribbean or putting together a partnership with UNESCO for a sustainable travel pledge, her goal has always been to ensure the company is making a difference in the communities while having an eye on delivering business value. Before the Mariners, she served as the head of global social impact and sustainability at Expedia Group, where she oversaw corporate grants and giving, volunteerism, community and employee engagement and sustainability. She honed her skills in international business, strategic communications and reputation management at some of the world’s most iconic brands, including Microsoft and Starbucks, as well as with the U.S. government working for the Clinton, Obama and Biden administrations. She serves on the board of Cascadia Consulting Group, a women-owned environment, health and community consulting firm. She also serves on the non-profit boards of the Seattle Center Foundation, Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and the Community Development Roundtable. She is the co-founder of several initiatives including the Our Stories Are Your Stories campaign to combat Asian hate during the last few years.
Katherine is a two-time graduate of the University of Washington with degrees in Political Science, American Ethnic Studies, and a Master’s in Business Administration. When not supporting the causes and organizations she deeply cares about, she’s fueling her passion for travel and sports with her husband and 16-year-old twin boys who are dedicated baseball players.
